Once in my store a mother and her son were looking for pool party birthday invites for his 6th birthday. She picked out some very cute designs of painted fish and cute little whales. He hated them. She told him, “But darling, see how cute they are? Just like my little man” He hollered back stomping, “I’m not cute Momma! I’m rough and tough! I want a shark! I want a big scary SHARK!” I cut in, suggesting they let me whip something up just for him that was a little more “Big Boy”. I sent them the design and he loved it. His mother later told me that all the little boys loved it too and thought her son had the coolest invites and pool party that year. She came up with some really great decor and the boys played Sharks & Minnows. “I guess he’s just not my baby boy anymore”, she said. I reassured her, “He will always be your baby, but boys will always be boys”
