This is an illustration of the old Lisbon Bridge at sunset in pink hues. The de Abril Bridge or th of April Bridge, Portuguese is a suspension bridge connecting Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, to Almada on the left (south) bank of the Tagus river. The bridge was inaugurated in and named Salazar Bridge after Portuguese Prime Minister Salazar, who ordered its construction. He ruled as a dictator until . Soon after the Carnation Revolution, the bridge was renamed after the day it occurred. Reminiscent in the design and coloring of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, it was inaugurated in . Both Lisbon and San Francisco are located on seven hills and have trams for transport and suspension bridges. It has two levels, the top level is for cars and the lower, which was added in is for trains. When you cross it you get great views of Lisbon, the Tagus, and the Christo Rei statue on the south bank. This item will undoubtedly please Portuguese-Americans or Luso-Americans, any citizens and residents of the United States who are connected to the country of Portugal by birth, ancestry, or citizenship. But you can use this for a Portuguese-themed party too.
